The kids are here. Our Linda's side. She's brought me a shoe. Men's left, grey trainer, wet through. Bus stop on Wakefield Road, she says. Which stop, she couldn't say. You don't bring them. I've said this. A shoe is sat in a place and the place matters as much as the shoe. It's not going in the Register. It's not where it was. It's on the good doily now. Our Linda's said nothing. The lad's got a theory about it. I don't go in for theories. Anyway.

I have had the drone up over the moor. Our Linda got me it for my birthday and I have been told to use it. There is a wellington in the heather, off the path, stood up. You would not see it from the path. I did not. It were raining. I have since read that the drone is not for rain. It is not a shoe, so it will not be numbered. It will go in the wellington ledger with the others. I am not good with the controls yet. I went past it and had to come back. I have left that in. Anyway.

Pheasant. I've not moved it. It has. Storthes Hall woods. Brogue, men's right, on the path. It was there when I got there and the pheasant was already on it. I don't interfere. That is the whole point of the thing. But I will say the shoe is now about half a metre from where it was and that is not my doing. It has been noted as found. I have put a line under it about the bird.

Our Linda's booked the carvery. There's a roast but it's not ours, there's a man does it. Beef, turkey or gammon, he said. I said beef. You don't touch the meat. I did ask. Then you're on your own for the veg. It said one visit only on a bit of paper, which I think is fair. Mr Ackroyd were two tables over and never saw us. Anyway.

We have had the formal meal. It was the small courses, as advertised. There were a good number of them and I could not tell you what most were. They do not let a plate linger. Linda enjoyed it, which is the main thing. I had left the flask in the room, on advice. The podcast will be late this week. The recording arrangements are in Huddersfield and I am not. Episode two is prepared in my head. I can only apologise for the delay. Anyway.

There is a boot at the lake, sat by the water. The ledger is Huddersfield and surrounding areas. It has been seventeen years. Cumbria is not a surrounding area. I have taken one photograph for personal reference. A photograph is not an entry. I want that understood. Still raining. Anyway.

A report from the room. We are stopping two nights. The room is satisfactory. There is a kettle, though the teabags are sat loose in a little glass jar rather than wrapped, which I have noted. I asked after the carvery. There is not one. There is a menu of small courses, which our Linda says is the better sort of thing. We shall see. Still nothing shoe-wise. The weather has not let up. Anyway.

We have arrived at the hotel. It has been raining since Kendal and it is raining here. Our Linda keeps the phone in her little stand for the directions, and it has recorded us coming up the drive, so that is what this is. Discussions were had in the car regarding the bag. I will say no more on it at this time. Nothing to report shoe-wise as of yet. I remain alert to it. Anyway.

We are going to the Lakes for two nights. Linda's got us an hotel on a voucher. There were a trainer sat on the bonnet of a car at the services. Under normal circumstances I would have documented it from all sides. There were a gentleman sat in the car so I have not knocked. He were bound for Scotland, I heard him say so in the queue. It will come off on the M74 I should think. That is a removal, not a loss. It is not one for the ledger either way. Anyway.

It is Sunday. There is no roast. Linda is preparing for tomorrow. I had my dinner on Castle Hill instead. Egg. The wind had the flask over. The cup survived.

Our Linda were at her class at the community centre so I stopped on for a look. There were a club on in the hall. Dry swimming. We did it at school when there were no pool. I had not thought about it in fifty year. They said I would have to wear the cap to watch. I did not argue. Nowt doing on the shoe front. Anyway.

It were still there when I got to it. White left trainer, no lace on the left side. That is the Rigby shoe, two year on from the woods. I stopped with it a bit in the rain. As for the ledger, I do not know where a shoe that has moved itself is meant to file. I am still thinking about it.

I called in a shop in town after some vinyl for the kitchen floor. They had none in, it were all records. They had a shoe up on the wall an' all, on a little shelf wi' a ticket on it, and they want eighty pound for it. It were not even a clean one. I have never paid owt for a shoe in seventeen year.

I went up Blackmoorfoot of a Sunday morning before dinner. There were a boot up there since the spring and I had been keeping an eye on it, and now it has gone. Somebody has had it, or it has blown off in the wind. There is nowt to show you this time. Our Linda had a dinner on when I got back.

I took the garden waste down to the tip of a Saturday morning. There were a shoe down in the general waste, sat on top of some cardboard. You cannot get down in to them, and I would not have anyway. I did have a look round at the signs and there is no skip for shoes, so I suppose the general waste is where it goes.

I sat on the bridge over the M62 for a bit. There were a shoe down on the hard shoulder, right on the edge of it. I will not be getting to that one. I have watched this back and you cannot hear a word I am saying for the wagons. I am not going up again to do it over, so it will have to do.
