Set off from home at half eight. Parked in the small car park at Digley — there were two other vehicles, both appeared to be walkers. Made my way along the main reservoir path heading east. About twenty minutes in, just past the second gate on the right, I spotted it in the grass verge. Right boot. Brown leather. Laces still in and tied, which I always find interesting — suggests it came off some other way. Size nine at a guess, maybe ten. The sole had started to separate at the toe, which I noted in the field book.
Lovely spot. You can see right across to Black Hill on a clear day, though today it were overcast. I took eight photographs. Six of them came out to a reasonable standard. I had my sandwiches just down from the gate — egg and cress, flask of tea. Sat for about twenty minutes. A chaffinch landed nearby. Not relevant but worth noting.
I'll be back in a few weeks to see how it's getting on. These things move sometimes and I like to keep track.
Sandwiches near the stile. Egg and cress. Conditions were fair.
