Layby on A640, Outlane — Left Shoe, Oxford Style

Outlane, West Yorkshire  ·  Shoe #263  ·  Conditions: cold, grey, some ice on verge

I want to explain the photograph on this one. It were a cold morning in January and my hands were not at their best. I took five photographs of the shoe and four of them are blurred to a degree I'm not happy with. The fifth is better but still not what I'd call sharp. I've not included it in the gallery for that reason. I want to be honest about that.

Left shoe. Oxford style — proper lace-up, five eyelets, leather sole. Dark tan. Size eight or nine. In good condition, which I noted — there was no significant weathering, which suggests it hadn't been there long. A smart shoe in a roadside layby. I've seen smart shoes before and they always make you think a bit more than a trainer does. I don't draw conclusions from that. That's not what this is about.

The layby is on the A640 just past the Outlane turn. I pulled in, had a look, took my photographs, and sat in the car for a bit because the wind were bitter. Flask of tea. I'd brought ham sandwiches which were adequate. I've written to Barry about this one as he's in that area occasionally. He hasn't replied yet. That's fine.
