Roundabout, Brighouse — Left Brogue

Brighouse, West Yorkshire  ·  Shoe #237  ·  Conditions: cold, dry, overcast

I'll be honest: this one required some commitment. A roundabout is not a natural place to find yourself standing for twenty minutes with a camera and a flask. There's a particular feeling you get, being observed from passing vehicles when you are clearly there on purpose. I want to note that this has never stopped me, and it didn't stop me here.

I'd spotted the brogue from the car on a previous trip and noted it down. Came back the following Saturday specifically. Parked up in the retail car park nearby and walked across.

Left brogue. Black. Formal shoe — the kind with punched decorative trim around the toe cap. Size ten. Sitting at the edge of some low planting in the central island, upright, laces tied. I stood on the island for a period while traffic continued around me and took nine photographs from various angles. Drivers were accommodating. I noted this with appreciation.

Had my sandwiches back at the car. Corned beef. Flask. I've not seen another roundabout shoe since and I don't expect I will. They're their own category really, though I've not started a separate ledger. Not yet.
